I'm not pretty, but I do receive the "normal looking" comments often. Like... disabled people can't want to look nice? Not all disabilities result in physical disfiguration.

Sorry to hear. It always sucks when that happens. I’ve been in a chair for years and still hear it 🙄. I sometimes answer “yes I am pretty, it’s also makeup and a wardrobe. You’re probably used to seeing old people who are tired of living so they don’t care how they look. But I am not old. Should I self-neglect to show everyone I’m disabled? Don’t I have the same right to dignity and beauty as any other person?”
