I saw someone earlier post asking why faxes still exist when there's email? Email goes out into the greater universe where it's completely unsecure until it arrives. At any point along the way it can be intercepted and read. Faxes are secure end-to-end because it's a machine connecting to another machine over a dedicated line only they're connected to. Online faxes are encrypted end-to-end. While it *could* be intercepted, the chances that will happen are slim.
