Demons? We are at the point where the existence of demons at all needs to be debated? I just…. No words…. Now there are metaphorical demonds. But they’re the ones arguing about literal demons.

When I hear someone blame a demon, I hear it as a euphemism for "something beyond my imagination, but definitely bad," not a literal demon. They imply an intent by attaching cause to a sentient being, though fictional, because bad stuff couldn't possibly be random; it must be evil, or the idea of someone always in charge would be questioned. I don't expect they're imagining some brimstone breathing beast, but evil intent, a challenge to their morality, because sh*t can't just happen.
