In many cases a woman cannot truly get away if she has children with the abusive partner. Years ago my neighbor’s ex kept violating orders of protection. But she couldn’t disappear because the ex had visitation with the children. He never abused the children, so he had visitation. One time their son had to call the cops because his dad was violating the order of protection. It was really messed up.
