This was a really enjoyable read (bizarre as that sounds). All those friends, all those visitors, all that concern, appreciation and affection. He clearly was a genuine person who brought a lot of joy into the world. Your sense of loss will always be there, but the enormous impact he had on others is testament to a life well lived, even though it ended prematurely.
