Strictly 's sambathon just shows how easier it is to judge the dancers, when they're all doing the same thing. For the first two weeks they should all do the waltz one week and the chacha the next. Some couples get lucky by drawing a really difficult dance in the first week, when it doesn't really matter, and they'd be hammered by the judges in later weeks.
