Older Gen X and Gen Jones: Did everyone else have literally zero adults in their lives they actually talked to? Parents were who we hid things from, grandparents we hardly saw, teachers were just up front in the classroom. We only talked to each other. Just me or was that normal?

Teachers seemed to invariably hate children - there was definitely no support when kids were having problems at home, problems at school, academic difficulties, mental health issues. Emotional reactions or behavior was treated with anger and potential violence. Family adults weren't much better.
