IIRC Jim Kirk became a captain and assumed command of the Enterprise when he was 34. Five year mission makes him 39. Two years of shore duty before V’Ger makes him 41. Say 1-2 years lapses between that and Enterprise becoming a training ship. That means in Wrath of Khan, when he’s complaining about being old and used up, Kirk is about…my age. 🫨 startrek
