I think it can be true. I have seen really good tracks from bands get noticed with good traction and find a natural way to getting exposure, in the “way as cream will always rise to the top” kind of way. That said, I have seen many a fantastic track/song be criminally underplayed and get no traction at all. My takeaway would be that we need to mutually support each other to give greater exposure and become less reliant on paid promotions from ‘marketing specialists’
