What’s wrong with Smart meters? I see lots of posts saying people don’t want them. When we built our new house I insisted on one. The flexible tariffs and lack of having to read and report the meter reading was all the incentive I needed. Is this some kind of conspiracy thing?

12 小時內	truegoode	Early smart meters could not transfer between suppliers. Smart meters are not always properly maintained and, too often, fail. If on YOUR WiFi are they a hack risk? (I'm no expert so perhaps somebody who is can comment on my final point).
12 小時內	Niall Murphy niall9694	I agree with your statement about the convenience of smart meters but; We have had two smart meters installed. Neither has been able to connect to our gas meter because it is just outside the house at the front door. Apparently this is a WiFi issue. I can get Wi-Fi from my BT router standing next to the gas meter. This is apparently a fairly common problem and was known about but companies were being paid to install them so didn’t care. Now they are not being paid they won’t sort it.
