Genuine question for someone who would call themselves pro-choice: at what point does the fertilised egg have value of human life worthy of protecting?

When the brain activates. When an adult human is in the hospital with a beating heart, working lungs, working every organ except that the brain is not active, then doctors can stop feeding water to let the body die in three days. Same for the pre-born. No working brain, no living human being.

A fertilized egg gains value at the moment a human gives it value.

Whenever the woman carrying it says so.

More times than not, it is about the health of the woman and not about aborting a child. Women are living beings too and we should be valued as such. Not thought of as people who just want to kill an unborn child. It’s our body and it should be the choice between a woman and her doctor.

At the point when parents and doctors (based on their MEDICAL opinion) believe that it is. It's no one else's business. (not even the government) And yes, I said PARENTS (and not just the mother).

Is this a female foetus? Because why would you confer it the right to override consent and bodily autonomy of a fully formed human being only to then deny it those very same rights 8-60 years after it's born?

I raise your question with another question. Why is it only when the fertilised egg in within a another human being that the question raises of its ‘value’ as ‘human life’? During IVF treatements thousands if not millions of fertilised eggs or embryo’s are discarded yet, no one bats a eye.

Too complicated to answer. It has value if it is in my body, but I can’t decide that for someone else. Also, many “valued” fetuses are aborted for many reasons (fetal anomalies, health of mother, miscarriage, etc). No one has a late term abortion for fun or because they don’t want the baby. While it’s in the body, it’s between them and their Dr. Once born, we should do all we can to support and protect the baby.
