Our district offers bussing for my daughter’s school, but it requires a transfer at another school. Her school is 2.3 miles from our house, but it would require us to drive her a mile the opposite direction to drop her off at one school in the morning and ride the bus 45 minutes and then AFTER school she would get dropped off at our house after riding the bus for EIGHTY minutes. She could walk home backwards faster than that. Unacceptable.

This works great until you live in a town that doesn't allow children living less than 2 miles from school to take the bus - oh and also there's no sidewalks, and if you let your 6 year old walk home from school alone you'll be arrested.

Until the school bus ride has kids on a bus for over an hour each way and it's an extended day program.

And what if it was $1300 for the school year? 🙃

I work in a school with 230ish students PreK-5th. We have 50 cars (many cars have more than one student) who are on the regular pick up list and then sometimes more who are not picked up every day. Dismissal is at 3:50 and parents start lining up at 2:30. It’s crazy.

Yeah, let’s put bus drivers out of a job and when that’s done, raise prices so that it costs the exact same amount as hiring bus drivers, but instead we have randos doing it part time for less pay and no benefits.

But would the wipers go swish swish swish??
