Dear Apple people, could you explain me why Mac right click menu has both copy and duplicate options but no cut option? What is the rationale behind this? What is the difference between copy and duplicate btw?

If you cut, then failed to write to the destination, there is a chance the file will be lost or damage. So no matter I use Windows or macOS, ai will only use copy function. Apple do this is to protect users.

Duplicate creates a copy right there, you'd end up with a new folder with duplicate contents. No idea why there's no cut other than it's not an atomic operation if you paste to another device

Duplicate just duplicate the file in the same location you are at, copy is used for copy and paste later wherever you want, like another folder

Why would you do a cut? To paste/move an item to another location right? You can simply drag and drop to do this. Keyboard shortcuts also exist. And duplicate, as the name says, is used to quickly make a copy of item(s) in one step, no need to copy and then paste.
