Reminded about that one time my ex-husband got me a small blanket for xmas. I didn’t want to make it a big deal, so I waited to mention something until January. I remember saying: “I appreciate the gesture, but it wasn’t what I expected.” His response: “I’m so stupid. I should burn the blanket then.” Then me backtracking & apologizing.
