I felt disconnected like that for a while. Then I realized that I had built my practice from books and preconceived notions. Once I forged my own path, using the knowledge I had amassed rather than trying to directly mimic it, I felt much more connected. For me, I had tied the craft too tightly to the religious side of things, and it never felt right. Once I viewed religion and the craft as two distinct practices that could be intertwined, everything flowed more smoothly for me. YMMV
