A woman in our dept. is retiring after 44yrs. We got an email from her coworkers asking for generous donations to give her a surprise retirement party. Our department isn’t giving up a dime. Another man retired after 40+ yrs in another dept. He was told that his dept. was going to give him a party. He came dressed in a suit, with his adult daughter who was also nicely dressed. He was served soft pretzels and water. Please use your PTO, tuition reimbursement, or anything else. Black Women

Vacation/pto was calendar year (1/1 12/31) she waiting till the end of the year and took 6 weeks vacation, Jan 1 she said I’m taking my 6 weeks of vacation. Last week of her vacation she calls and I’m not coming back, I’m retiring. Company was upset saying she should have told them 3 months prior to save money and insurance premium. Her friends had a huge party outside of work! Go Mae!

That was in the early 2000’s, barely 20 years ago. Crazy how low the bar has fallen in such a short time.
