The gift of life

A day off from doing anything for everyone else. I cherish that more than any other gift.

One year when I was in Jr. High, money was really tight for my mother & me at Christmas. She gave me the best gift I've ever received. She had purchased a pretty, little box somewhere; probably a garage sale. Inside, she put a letter in which she shared all of her hopes and dreams for me. She expressed confidence in my abilities that I could do anything I set my mind to. She said she loved me & was proud of me. I'm 63 now, and my mother is gone, but I still have that letter & box.
