I’m glad to see this thread, I pretty much came to the same conclusion earlier this year, but I’d replace or add to the therapy part with churches that exclude anyone that doesn’t look, sound or act like them.

one day a few years ago i realized that i & my witchcraft practices were culturally appropriating from closed cultures.. i stopped, but felt desperately hollow & eventually realized that reconnecting with my own heritage started to fill that void. Im still working on it. but i do think having no community, no roots, no sense of self that comes from family history and traditions, is a big problem among wyt ppl. its not an excuse, but it is an issue that i feel many of us need to work on healing.
