We also don’t get paid for the breaks. And not one teacher sets the school year schedule selecting the breaks or the amount of time off each district takes. All of that is determined at a city and state level, not by any staff member in any school.

You realize most jobs require a 9-10 hour day, right? That’s not overtime. And you know most jobs don’t get 3 months off?

My district just did a public announcement that two mental health days are built in next year’s calendar. The news picked it up and ran a story. Mind you, we still have the mandated 180 days we always have. So many angry comments from the public! Imagine being mad about that.

The only reason teachers get a break is because the kids need a break.

Daily unpaid overtime. And… we don’t get paid for our breaks.

We do not get paid while on break 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. Some of us opt to take smaller checks through the year to receive continuous checks throughout the summer. But teachers don’t get paid for days we are not working .
