Why don't they just make a bridge here? it would be so much quicker to go from Chicago to Detroit.

1- Lake Michigan is super deep. That portion is like 500ft at the deepest. 2- Chicago to Union Pier is about 50 miles. That’s a long ass bridge. 3- Lake Michigan is kinda choppy. Hard to build on.

And when it’s buried in lake effect snow and ice for 4-5 months out of the year and cannot be cleared easily, I-94 is where you’ll be driving so why waste the money?

Maybe take a drive on the Lake Ponchartrain bridge in a heavy rainstorm and see how fun that is.

It's not worth it.. I moved to new Buffalo, mi from Chicago and that drive takes a little more than 1 hr. All my neighbors are Northside people, and don't mind it either

There’s a car ferry that will take you, but takes pretty much the same amount of time. Source: I drive from Chicago to mackinaw city twice a year.

Why don’t they just make a bridge here while they‘re at it? 🤔

My question is why are there no major cities on Lake Michigan opposite of Milwaukee? Looks like prime real estate for development
