Then please tell me what to do because my daughter is in crisis, refuses all interventions and our local crisis teams will not evaluate her unless she agrees. She refuses to go to a shelter and keeps demanding to stay in our house but creates conflict for literally hours while she's here. She kept screaming yesterday for 16 hours. I do not believe in calling police on vulnerable people but what are we supposed to do in this situation?

My mom threatened me she would call cops on me when she was at my door after being told I didn’t feel like talking to her. I just couldn’t tolerate her toxic positivity and I didn’t want to see anyone at the time. She still says she didn’t do anything wrong and she would do it again because “She knows about mental illness” and I hurt her feelings for refusing to see her. I said “Why do I have to prioritize your feelings when I’m so depressed” Her response was “How dare you!”

My mom was having a mental health crisis before she had me and called in herself. They put her in a cell overnight. Absolutely wild.

I have struggled with mental health problems. I think I can attest to this. If you are breaking things, hurting people, or yourself, you should absolutely call 911 and telling people otherwise is DEMONIC work.

I once had an ex call for a wellness check because she saw I had been depressed a couple days prior. I sent the cops on their way by telling them to get off my property. They came back the next day with five squad cars, guns drawn, screaming at me like I'd killed someone. I disassociated and they shipped me to a hospital in another town 45 minutes away in my pajamas and no shoes, where I was released at 9am the next day with no phone or money. I panhandled train fare home in grippy socks.

Even if you don’t call the police they send them anyway

I called the cops on my roommate who attacked me for trying to move out. They were having a psychotic episode. I still feel really complicated about it.

911 is for emergencies. During a mental health crisis someone can hurt themselves or someone else, therefore an emergency. Cops will pick you up and give you a ride to the psych ward. With these many school shootings going on… go ahead and call 911
