Or the fact that studies are often cherry picked to "prove" efficacy, or the conflicts of interest, or the aspects that are taken as behaviorist approaches but are actually founded in other disciplines, or the lack of longitudinal studies, or the issues of consent, the issues of the AIC, etc...... are all always dismissed. I am beginning to believe that Behaviorism, as a theory and as a worldview through which folks view science and operate from, is a Cult. What have others noticed?

I’m a former BCBA and critical of ABA now. The issue is that there is a megaload of evidence backing ABA, so we really don’t make a dent when we try to say evidence shows that it’s harmful, doesn’t work, etc. The problem is the quality of that evidence. The evidence shows that it is possible to change behavior using behaviorism. They haven’t proven that ABA improves quality of life long term, just that they successfully changed behavior.
