Absolutely something changes. Even if it is just that now you knowingly continue to misgender instead of accidentally doing it. And the misgendered person can now make a change and remove you from their life. As a nonbinary person, plenty changed for me the moment I chose to remove myself from the gender game. There is something about Freedom that can’t be matched.
