I'm British...I call it dinner.

My grandmother would refer to tea as being afternoon sand and cakes - dinner (evening meal) would be high tea if she was serving a cooked meal. She usually cooked the main meal at midday as grandsd would usually be home before going back to work in the afternoon, that was called dinner
