Poem I valued you For more than you knew It wasn’t your looks I learned to love those the same I found traits I loved You added to yourself You didn’t need to I loved you for you You spoke up You were strong-willed You cared deeply You showed me safety Before you, I was scared Living with a stone face Carved from the walls in my head So I could stay safe I carved a new face To protect myself from pain I did this for me Because of extreme suffering
