I learned a cheap way to convert Canadian dollars to USD and vis versa. It is called Norbert's Gambit. You need an online brokerage account, you buy a Canadian inter listed stock on say the USA exchange, then you immediately sell the same stock on the Canadian exchange, thereby converting USD to CDN at a fraction of the cost at a bank
