That’s a mistake on the bank’s part, not the Teamsters. If the check is signed by the payee, it should be legal tender. If everything else fails, the check is cashable at the bank that issues it.

It's not a mistake on the bank's part. Fraud is rampant and they can't accept checks signed over willy nilly: the institution I just left required them to be present or a copy of their ID. The bank'd be liable if the person in front of them stole the check. And the larger the check the less likely they are to bend any rules they have.

Australian banks no longer take overseas cheques for deposit. Must be done by wire transfer.

Yeah but usually cashing an endorsed check is hard especially for a large sum.
