I have 2 sons and 1 daughter. I’ve never really been concerned about my boys’ protecting themselves - not because they’re boys, but I’ve seen them squabble with other kids and each other. After my middle school closed (due to circumstances beyond my control - the school had issues with the state when I inherited it) my daughter had to switch schools. My sons were in high school by this time and she was in 7th grade. 2/

Once in middle school while waiting for the morning bell, I was reading one of them really big Harry Potter books minding my own business and this random big girl just slapped it down. Her 2-3 cronies laughed and called me names. I stared her down and calmly told her “Pick up my book.” Nobody had ever reacted that way before but I wasn’t scared 🧵
