Question: when I can safely start to indoctrinate my nieces into the craft? And by "indoctrinate my nieces into the craft" I do mean "teach them how to knit." The eldest two nieces are 6 years old. Too soon? Knitting Threads

It depends on the kid! My daughter took to it very quickly when she was 4/5 but most kids I’ve worked with tend to be older. I’m teaching a 6.5 yo and so is her mom but it’s slow going. Usually it’s slow going. If they really want to knit it’ll click.

Never too soon. My either and six year olds are looking to learn how to sew and crochet 😄

I learned at that age. But that said my oldest son is soon to be 11, and can’t grasp the concept of holding both yarn and needles or hook to save his life, and my youngest who is 6, loves yarn but only for messing about and testing height and aerodynamics, so it may depend on the child in question. :)

It all starts with the potholder loom.
