It’s been a year and I’m still heartbroken. A very hard lesson, but sometimes the kid knows what’s best. I couldn’t take another phone call of tears from 1500 miles away. Hoping for the best - my kid is thriving at the local CC until she decides on a landing spot.

Hugs! My freshman is 4 hours away and he drives home nearly every weekend. Granted, he has a classic car in our garage that he’s working on.. but every time I get a new tool or hose or gasket or whatever delivered from Amazon I know I’ll see him that weekend! I hate knowing he’s on the road 8 hours each weekend but I love having him home! ❤️

Mine didn’t want to go back. He’s graduating with a 3.95 in 2 weeks. The first semester is an emotional rollercoaster. The first year, even. It’s like this for me after every vacation from work. I never want to go back. I just make myself go.

My son did that. He said he felt lost. He was 19. I told him that he should feel lost. It was perfectly normal. He was finding himself. If he was 25 and said that , then we would have a problem. He went back for exams. Spent Christmas at home and then went back to school. All was good.

My daughter got a little homesick during Thanksgiving break but said either way she would finish the semester to see if see wanted to return .She was fine .

Thing 2 has had a journey and him being local has made the difference. I have always picked up the phone when he calls and Sunday night dinners have become a ritual. It can be tough!
