I don’t think this was necessarily a dirty play by Aziz on Trevor Lawrence, but definitely wreckless. The slide was initiated before he launched himself. But I feel like the problem is in the early 2000s, possibly before, the emphasis in the NFL changed from trying to wrap up and tackle, and turned into going for big “hits”. I don’t like the standard of launching yourself at the ball carrier, but it’s also so hard to tackle these guys now days that it’s kind of necessary at times.
