2/3 Because my intent wasn’t to offend, I wanted to make sure that she knew, that I knew that I’d messed up and was sorry. So boom! Me: Hey I apologize for misusing your pronouns. Her: I mean I do got these double D’s here 🙄 Me: yeah, my bad it was the voice that tripped me up. I’m so sorry about that! Her: well you could’ve just kept that to yourself Me: I understand! However I wanted to apologize because I was not intending to offend you. Her: grins, cuts eyes, & gathers belongings

As a trans person myself, an occasional slip up is bound to happen. If a cisgender person does it once and apologizes, accept the apology and move on. Its only if they consistently misgender a trans person then attitude is necessary.

I am not in the lgbtq+ community but I always refer to anyone as they/them unless I know for sure what their pronouns are. However, I do often have bias and will quickly resort to a he/him she/her as a first assumption. If I do this, I correct myself to a they/them and move on. I’ve often found it’s better not to appologize and just correct yourself and move on, unless they specifically make a comment about them being offended and then you can offer an apology
