Want to know the real kicker? The blueberry farmers are only paid 22c/lb. We didn't even pick this year because it costs 25c just to run the harvester. The entire industry is hooped. Everything you're paying there is middle man markup.

15 小時內	threadsbymitch	So are there no “farmers markets” in your area where your harvest could be sold at, say, $1.00/lb. Or could you not have sold your harvest at the roadside (like some rural egg, corn or potato producers do)? Seems like a waste, where everyone is yelling the buzzword “food insecurity”, to not “…even pick this year because it costs…” 03c more than the big retailers are paying you.

一天內	Adam Reeves oldravenns	When I was a boy the province used to send busses full of workers from town. It was called manpower. A little out of date, but the state regulating and organizing labour worked really well. It was easy employment for the pickers, and helped immensely with the farm. We pretty much couldn't have done it without public labour. This was the 80s and 90s. Today people would cry commie. 🙄
