As I stared at my flat tire on the shoulder of the highway exit, a DOT patrolman pulled up behind me. He was annoyed at the fact that car companies don’t give you a spare tire anymore. But he led me off the highway and into the nearby gas station where I waited for the emergency tire shop to arrive.
