Amy marrying Laurie makes sense to Amy and Laurie, but from the outside it feels like a betrayal at first (to me, the reader). But it actually does make sense once you get used to it. Laurie desires connection to the March family. Amy needs financial security and has had a crush on him since she was a girl. ALSO- it is ironic that if Laurie and Jo share similar personality traits, Amy married someone like the sister she fought with so much as a child. So that’s a little interesting.

People seem to have such a narrow view of marriage sometimes. Saying that Jo was tied to the school and Behr after her marriage. I always, even as a young teen reading for the first time, appreciated the concept of Jo being confounded by the true love connection. How it brought her back to herself and her family. It showed her where she wanted to be. People don’t seem to understand that the dreams we have a children or teenagers are not necessarily the same as the ones we have as adults.
