Why is it so hard for people to just listen to patients. "I have endometriosis-" "No you just need green tea, a child and some yoga☺️"

"I have depression and anxiety." "Do you know what'll fix that? A child." Aaaaaaaaaabsolutley not. 👋🏼 Summarises an actual conversation I've had multiple times with *one particular person*.

I have pilonidal disease. Got it passed down from my dad. I had a doctor tell me my problem was not washing my ass despite explaining my father already had surgery for the same condition and that it isn't hygiene related. The doctor had no idea what the disease was, let alone what caused it. It took years to find a doctor (a female, go figure) that took me seriously and had seen the condition before in patients my age. She did a minimally invasive outpatient procedure and I've been fine since.

A doctor once told me, regarding my back pain, that once I have a baby my boobs will shrink and I won’t have back problems anymore… I was 16 and had been in a skiing accident a few years prior in which I hurt my back, in combination with being front heavy this caused back pain. Was also told that the reason I was “lazy and fat” was because I have hypothyroidism, this was how the doctor told me my diagnosis.
