Something I learned is a privilege (as a white woman with white kids) recently is my ability to choose age appropriate discussions about race with my kids, and how mothers of Black children aren't often afforded that. A Black woman suggested this author to me, so I'm reading her book and will be discussing it with my 13yo son and reevaluating what age appropriate really means.

一小時內	Tabitha St Bernard-Jacobs tabithastb	Food for thought indeed. I think all parents make a decision about what is age-appropriate, though white parents may shield their kids more. Like, I can talk to my 10 year old about white supremacy but that phrase will go over my 5 year old’s head. I still need to break it down for her age. It’s more about cognitive capability for me. And for sure many white parents may underestimate this for their kids.
