Yes. I also had, “For someone as seemingly intelligent as she is, she asks a lot of questions.” That’s because I daydreamed through class and had zero idea what had been discussed.

Oh yes. My mother was a teacher and got v cross. She was embarrassed I couldn’t tell the time, tie my laces, ride a bike or swim. My geography teacher said I just had to look at something and it broke. I was banned from using the sewing machines. I covered up for all this by being the class clown.Lack of application was another yet I was trying so hard. It makes me cry now for that little girl in the 60s & 70s who only worked out the reason for it all at nearly 60.

Yes, yes, all of this and diagnosed at 66. Eventually managed to get an undergraduate uni degree by age 42, and and post graduate by 47. Now nearly 70, it helps to view these struggles through the ADHD lens, more self compassion, but really wanted to be a doctor or scientist when I was young. If only I'd had the right support and understanding back then. 🤷‍♀️ one of my adult children only recently diagnosed, but at least we can help the grandchildren now 🤕

They put my desk in the hallway. They put my desk in the coat closet. No matter where they put me, isolating me from everyone and all the lessons, just handing me homework without benefit of instruction it was still the same. No work done, yet still making A on the tests.

My mom gave me a stack of my childhood schoolwork, including report cards. Those notes on my report cards was one of the clues I needed to seek diagnosis. I received an ADHD diagnosis early November at age 45.

So fun fact about me being diagnosed later in life, childhood was wild. My parents took me not once but twice to the optometrist because they thought I couldn't see the board in class. I have 20/20 vision btw. It's not blindness it's just undiagnosed ADHD. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
