I went to the doctors in Japan as a foreigner/tourist with no insurance. Guess how much it was? $30. I was prescribed 3 medicines for an additional cost of $20. My total bill was $50. This is without insurance 😲

Had both MRI and CT scans while I was in Japan. I only paid $80(USD) without an insurance. They even apologized me because the front desk staff thought they were charging me too much.

Wow that’s a steal, soooo cheap!! I might as well go there and get all my medical problems sorted out. Health tourism is real

You was very lucky! Because in Japan if you go to any doctor with no insurance, your bill can be very expensive, also depends in which part of the country you go , but I think they have a common price list that the government makes… keep healthy avoid crowds and if you go where mask, don’t be ashamed to do it, can keep you free of many things…

It depends on what you went for. If it was just a cold or minor injury, we do pay literally a few hundred yen, a few dollars, because we have universal insurance. But if you went for something more severe, of course you’d have to pay tens of thousands of dollars while we have upper limit to what we have to pay which is normally a few thousand dollars the most regardless of actual bill amount. That comes from social security, for Japanese citizens and residents, not insurance.
