I don't even blame the people that leave, i blame the people that use religion as a weapon

I find it interesting that some of the leading voices in atheism today have some the longest tenures of study and belief of the Bible as Christians: PhDs in Divinity from Seminary, decades as evangelical pastors, etc.

What do you mean by deconstruction? Do you mean leaving the faith entirely, or do you mean paring away the detritus that inevitably gets picked up by every generation's practice of the faith? I deconstructed when I initially had the feeling that I was no longer a Christian because I didn't seem to share many of the same values or beliefs as those around me, but eventually separated my following Christ from all of the unnecessary cultural baggage hat I had been raised to believe was integral.
