This is so bizarre to an Australian. I’ve had a baby, two emergency surgeries and two general admissions to hospitals and didn’t pay even .1 cent. It’s not perfect, there are waiting lists for surgeries but emergencies are covered. You’ll never lose your house bc of ill health.

How are people not horrified at the situation of people having to ration life saving medication? I’m so grateful to our Australian system. My 8yo had major surgery in March, and 15k+ covered between Medicare and health insurance, including 1 week in ICU and 5 or 6 different discharge meds that lasted 2 months. My only out of pocket was food for myself

I’ve had 4 children, surgery for bread cancer, radiation therapy, colposcopy, MRI’s, ultrasounds etc. Nights in hospital for various issues and all without having to pay anything. Our tax rates aren’t even excessive. Not to mention ACC (accident compensation corporation) which we all pay a levy into, including employers but if we have an accident, everything is covered and we are paid 80% of our wages until we are fit to return to work.

2 小時內	Stationer eleven stationereleven	I've had three c sections in Australia and I dispute that it didn't cost even 1 cent... Mine cost me a total of $49.50 (across three babies), which is what I paid for my discharge medications when leaving hospital :-)
