Better yet, why do we need them to sleep alone?

100%. I never expect my baby to sleep all night. She wakes when she’s hungry (I wake for a drink, toilet etc - so why can’t my baby?)

Tell me you’re a SAHM without telling me. Because it’s hard AF to go to work and be a functioning adult when all you ever get is broken sleep. 2 hours here, 3 hours there, 3 hours here, with feeds in between does not have the same restorative properties as 8 hours of consecutive sleep. I WISH I could stay home with my baby all day and rest when she naps, and that broken sleep didn’t matter because I don’t really have anywhere to go the next day, but I don’t have that luxury.

Parents often expect babies to behave like adults, but babies have different needs. This can be frustrating. However, once I accepted his nature and followed his lead, my days and nights improved significantly. He began doing things on his own without me needing to "train" him.

So we can sleep? And be the best parents for them possible while functional and not sleep deprived? Can’t be who they need if you can’t do what they need you to because you’re a zombie. That’s more harmful on them than trying to get them to sleep through the night. I’d rather have my 3mo old sleep and have a mom at her best than not sleep and not be able to give them what they deserve…

Because we’re fucking exhausted.

Because moms are not supported enough to cope with the lack of sleep on top of their other responsibilities and society’s unrealistic expectations.
