When I was little I heard my dad call a white man a “cracker” bc he almost hit the car and I was like “dad why you call him that we eat those” and he LITERALLY explained why 😭 I can’t forget that car ride ….otherwise, I wasn’t taught about/to say slurs to others in my family. School was a mf trip..

I learned what colorism is in 4th grade when a teacher called me a “house n!gga” because I chose to sit in the shade versus play in the field/playground. My mom was at the school BRIGHT & EARLY the next day.

It's when they would bring up slavery in my school that was mainly YT and all the YT kids would stare at me and the other 3 black kids in the class🥲
