When I graduated from college I got a part time job at an insurance company. They needed historians to go through policies from the 1930s. Why? Let me tell you! They had a special code in policy numbers to ID which race the holder was, and they would refuse to pay based on that. Anyway, in 2010 they got slapped with a massive lawsuit and needed people experienced in old documents to track down families who’d been denied life insurance payouts and inform them the cases had been reopened.
