It’s not based on income it’s based on the tax you would pay on that income. I have been declined ACA because I didn’t earn enough to pay enough taxes for them to give me ACA.

Tell me you know nothing about health insurance without telling me you know nothing about health insurance. 🙄 The ACA is still private insurance. It’s nothing like socialized medicine in the UK. Their healthcare is more like our Medicare, but everyone has access.

Not quite. The cheap plans used by the poor have a very high excess or deductible. Thus you’re in the hook for the first $9000 or so of costs each year. Kids can get Medicaid but the income thresholds and access vary state by state.

Yup. With a $9000 deductible. With an annual salary of $22000 (ft with a university degree). So, no I’m not getting that colonoscopy, no I’m not getting that weird thing on my thigh checked out, cause I can’t afford the tests and I definitely can’t afford any treatment that may result from the tests

The ACA is not a healthcare plan! It is legislation that allows you the opportunity to buy health insurance. It and the Medicaid expansion are still not fully implemented in 11 states due to politics.

You mean Obamacare. Unless you’re dirt poor it’s still pretty expensive for minimal coverage

And it’s no wonder why life expectancy in the US is on the way down 🤷♀️

Yes, that’s the bit “it’s based on income”. UHC in 🇨🇦 does not have that clause, no one is denied health care nor go bankrupt.
