Yeah Ukraine didn’t “exist” until 1989 but my grandparents didn’t speak Russian, they spoke Ukrainian. Borders don’t define an ethnicity. You can’t say because they didn’t have an established state that the ethnic group doesn’t exist. That’s not how it works.
