No. That's not big person Christmas. That's lazy parent Christmas. Those are not Christmas gifts. That's going to the store for groceries. Those are essentials. It's lazy and thoughtless. While I have given socks and underwear it's expensive stuff like hiking or kitschy socks. My kids are in there 20s. Never once did I lazily cheap out and buy regular toiletries. Hope Santa leaves you a nice lump of coal.

I have done new sheets and towels for each member of the household for years. (Color coded so nobody accidentally folds somebody else's wash cloth). They rolled their eyes, giggled and now, in their 40s still look forward to it. I skipped one year after the youngest finished college and it was met with howls of protest and begging for reinstatement! Lol.

I'm 54 years old, I have never received deodorant or toothpaste as a stocking stuffer, and I have never filled a stocking with those. It's not hard to fill a stocking with unique inexpensive items geared towards the recipient.

Everyone saying don t put practical stuff in stocking probably has houses filled with junk no one touches.

Lol these replies aren't going your way, are they? 😂 I'm with the teen on this one -- Christmas is meant to be special. Basic necessities are not "gifts". It's like somebody giving you a towel for your birthday -- sure, you can use it, but it doesn't exactly make you feel special does it?
