Marathoners: What is your strategy during a race to make it easier to carry on and not think about the kilometers or miles?
Mine: I focus on the smaller numbers, some examples:
After 10 km, I’m like: 10 is done.
After the halfway point (21 km), I think: Halfway there! It’s easy now—you’ve done plenty of 21 km runs before.
After 30 km, for example: Only 10 km to go. Easy—you do that all the time.
When it’s close to the finish: Now you’re going to finish—just crush it!
