Weird interactions with authors? Years ago, reading an indie book with a friend, we messaged the author asking why, if the MC in the book was described as Asian (yellowish skin and dark hair, etc) the cover featured a blond girl. The author replied (crazy cause I'd never contacted an author before) and she said that "as someone blonde myself, I don't see her as blonde but brown and dark skinned" and took swatches from the shaded parts. I didn't want to be rude, so I just thanked her. The cover:
