That's why we sent our son away to college, for the life experience. He has had over the past three years, in addition to his own friend from high school, one deaf African American man, another young African American man, Hispanic man. They were all randomly assigned to them by the apartment complex. And they've all gotten along really well. Next year he'll be moving with his high school friend into another apartment complex and have a female roommate and who who knows who else?!

I agree wholeheartedly, but with on campus residential living comes a jump in price by about 6 to 7 thousand $$$ per semester.

I went to private Christian colleges were you were required in live in the dorms. I learned as much living with all those different people as I did in class

I would have agreed with this 20 years ago. However, college is not what it used to be. We used to be encouraged to think for ourselves. Now, it you don’t agree with one side, you are ostracized and cancelled.

As a former college professor, with a PhD in psychology, I could not agree more. I’ve seen it even in my own kids during Covid. I believe there are other critical deficits in online learning as well. Even as a prof, I found it difficult online to assess student understanding of the topic and had less personal student interaction outside of class. Not a fan.

I wouldn’t be who I am without my residential experience in college. Fighting with housing, paying my way, working and balancing school was really beneficial for me. I don’t think residential is for everyone but I do think in person classes are. People need to learn to verbally discuss, compromise, and work together.
